Smoked salt

Smoked salt is an aromatic edible salt with smoke flavoring. It is a spice and is used as a shortcut to add smoked flavor to foods. Smoked salt consists mainly of sea salt and smoke.

Smoked salt lends to dishes of all types a smoky, ham-like flavor and is suitable for vegetarians.

Smoked salt is not a natural product. There are several ways to manufacture it:

  1. place salt in a wood smoker
  2. coat salt with smoke-flavored oil
  3. mix salt with smoke-flavored maltodextrin
