Microwave Technology

Warm in next to no time! Microwaves perform this feat not only in the kitchen but in the lab, too, where easy dosability and low energy consumption are added benefits. Employed for analysis or synthesis, under high or ambient pressure, in organic chemistry or biochemistry, microwave technology has come of age and is constantly conquering new fields of use, such as peptide synthesis.

  • A Platform System for Microwave Sample Preparation

Today's technology enables the near-perfect determination of trace elements in all concentrations down to the ultra trace range. Modern AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS or electrochemical procedures such as voltammetry are reliable and accurate measuring methods for almost every type of task. However, in most cases the sample material has to be supplied in a suitable, measurable form, i.e. as a largely matrix-free solution without contamination or loss of analytes more

  • Reaching the Next Level of Microwave-assisted Organic Synthesis

Microwave-assisted organic synthesis (MAOS) has become an increasingly popular discipline in modern chemical method development. At first, reaction optimization and method development on a small scale were the main areas of interest in MAOS. However, the growing acceptance and success of this innovative microwave technology revealed the necessity for large-scale synthesis of valuable compounds using microwave heating, especially in industrial laboratories more

  • Microwave digestion with top-loading concept for very simple handling and a high sample throughput

In many analytical laboratories today microwave digestion is a standard method of preparing samples for determining elements. For microwave digestion the sample material is typically heated to 200 - 260°C in closed microwave-transparent pressure vessels with an acid mixture and thereby fully degraded and dissolved. The advantage of microwave digestion compared to conventionally heated stainless steel pressure digestion vessels lies in the accelerated heating-up phase and the possibility of simultaneous digestion of multiple samples. However, the economic efficiency of the overall system is determined less by the number of samples per run than by the handling costs and the working hours required for it. This finding was consistently taken into account in developing the Berghof speedwave® four microwave digestion system. The speedwave® four distinguishes itself by simple handling and low operating costs more
