Proposed new member of Royal DSM N.V. Supervisory Board

Royal DSM N.V. announced that the Supervisory Board proposes to appoint Mr. Rob Routs as a member.

Mr. Routs (63, Dutch nationality) held various posts at the Royal Dutch Shell group until his retirement at the end of 2008. His last positions were Executive Director Downstream and member of the Board of Royal Dutch Shell plc. He received a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Eindhoven and holds a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences.

He is vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board of Aegon N.V. (and will take up chairmanship in April 2010), member of the Supervisory Board of Royal KPN N.V., and also is a member of the Board of Directors of INSEAD and Canadian Utilities Ltd. Furthermore, Mr. Routs is member of the Economic Development Board of Singapore International Advisory Council.

His proposed appointment as a member of the DSM Supervisory Board will be submitted for approval to the next DSM Annual General Meeting of shareholders on 31 March 2010.
