02-26-2010: Univar has announced Sonia Pires as the new EMEA leader for Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) / Sustainability.
Pires, who joined Univar on 1st February, has an impressive background and accomplishments in the field of SHE and Sustainability at blue-chip companies such as GE Healthcare, GE Water and Process Technologies and DSM Resins.
"I am very excited about joining a company with such an uncompromising commitment to the highest standards of safety, health and environmental care throughout the organisation," says Pires. "I look forward to building on Univar’s existing pioneering SHE programmes such as the widely recognised U+, and to integrating these into the broader Univar Sustainability programme, covering the whole value chain from our suppliers to our customers. We plan to launch initiatives to drive our business towards carbon neutrality, increase our energy and transport efficiency and to raise awareness of sustainable behaviour both internally and externally."
