03-10-2010: Univar announced the signing of a distribution agreement with Diastatische Producten to develop the growing market for malt extracts in Belgium, Poland and the Middle East.
Leiden-based Diastatische Producten manufactures “all natural” malt products for use in a variety of food and drink products, including bakery goods, breakfast cereals, chocolate bars and instant drinks. Malt extracts are available in liquid and powder forms and provide natural colour, flavour and an improved texture to the final product. Poland is one of Europe's fastest-growing markets for such malt-based products, while Belgium is becoming increasingly important for the bakery and chocolate markets.
“We are very pleased to be teaming up with Diastatische, one of the oldest, most experienced and quality-oriented manufacturers of natural malt extracts,” says Neil Blackburn, Univar’s Supplier Director Food Ingredients EMEA. “Diastatische has a long and proven history in the field of malt extracts and is an excellent fit for Univar Food Ingredients. This association, which will extend our broad food and beverage ingredients portfolio, will further enhance our product and service offering to our customers.”
