Accelrys Opens New UK Headquarters
New Facility to Serve as Base for European Operations
07-22-2002: SAN DIEGO, July 19 - Accelrys Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc, today announces the opening of its new European headquarters in Cambridge, England. The headquarters will be the base for Accelrys' European operations, and will provide services, support and training to its UK and European customers.
Accelrys is the leading computational science company, providing software that is used to accelerate research and development into pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The new office enables Accelrys to centralize its UK operations, bringing together staff from smaller facilities in Cambridge, Leeds, and Oxford. In addition to the company's existing presence, a key factor in selecting Cambridge is the area's concentration of technology and biotechnology businesses. This facilitates collaborative research with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and helps to ensure access to an excellent talent pool of potential scientific and technical employees.
Fit out of the 42,000 square foot offices represents a significant investment for Accelrys. The facility will house product development, marketing, sales, finance, and administration functions. It will be used to help strengthen existing relationships with the academic and business community in the UK as a whole and the Cambridge region in particular. As part of this program, the offices hold a purpose-built meeting suite that will support a variety of scientific conferences and seminars, as well as customer training activities. To help promote scientific networking, these facilities will be opened to collaborators and partner organizations.
