DEKRA strengthens Material Testing & Inspection in Turkey

DEKRA acquires Palme Group

14-Feb-2012 - Turkey

With the acquisition of the Palme Group, the international expert organisation DEKRA gains a leading material testing and inspection provider in Turkey. In doing so, DEKRA is consistently further expanding its international network in this area.

Palme is headquartered in Ankara and has a staff of around 60 highly qualified employees. The company specialises in the classical non-destructive testing of materials, such as radiography, ultrasonic and surface crack testing (PT and MT), leak testing, visual inspections and special testing procedures and operates an ultramodern material testing laboratory in addition. The primary fields of activity include power plants for the oil and gas industry as well as equipment and pipeline construction.

"With this takeover, DEKRA is consistently pursuing its internationalisation strategy in the industrial testing area. Especially in the areas of the energy and process industries, we see an international need for a strong customer-oriented alternative to the current providers in Europe", says Mark Thomä, Member of the Management Board DEKRA SE and head of the DEKRA business unit "Industrial".

Werner Bollmann, Head of the DEKRA service unit Material Testing & Inspection: "With the purchase of Palme, we are now in the position to provide optimally our customers in the energy and process industries in Turkey with a package for material testing and inspection".

From an organisational standpoint, the company will be incorporated in the newly created DEKRA service unit "Material Testing & Inspection" which includes the worldwide material testing activities of DEKRA and is managed by Marcel Blinde and Werner Bollmann.
