Biesterfeld AG continues dynamic growth path
11-05-2012: The Biesterfeld Group, Hamburg, grows continuously across Europe and achieves the
best performance in its more than 100 year old history.
In a very dynamic business environment in 2011 the Biesterfeld Group increased its
sales by approx. 15% to 963 Mio. €, EBIT rose 6% over previous year to reach more
than 28 Mio. €.
In 2011 the positive business development of Biesterfeld continued. Based on stable
customer demand at a very high level Biesterfeld achieved increased sales and profit figures. All of the three core business divisions – Plastics, Specialty Chemicals and International – benefited from increasing demand. Particularly Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH with its engineering polymers activity and Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH with its division CASE (Additives for Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers) profited from the continuous boom in the automotive industry. The European automotive industry, mainly the German premium class manufacturers, faced a growing domestic and foreign demand, which resulted in an increasing business volume in some of Biesterfeld’s most important markets.
The Biesterfeld Group succeeded in growing in existing markets as well as in emerging
markets, in new segments and in new product groups. Biesterfeld Plastic realized next to increasing sales and profits in Germany a very positive business development in South and Central Europe and continued to build its new business segment rubber.
Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH reinforced its regional focus by founding a new business entity in Italy. It also benefited from the very strong development in Turkey through its successful local subsidiary. The International division (Biesterfeld International GmbH) achieved good results based on its prosperous trading activities in the growth markets Asia, Central and South America as well as in Europe.
For 2012 the Biesterfeld Group envisages a continuous growth of its activities in an
increasingly positive business environment. The group plans to exceed the results of the previous year. Considering the first quarter 2012 performance Biesterfeld is confident to reach its objectives of growing sales and volumes this year.
Biesterfeld AG is the strategic holding company of the Biesterfeld with its 100 year tradition in the chemicals business. The company is one of the leading enterprises in chemicals and polymer distribution with over 50 locations worldwide in Germany, Europe, the Americas, as well as in Asia. The family owned company will continue to focus on steady profitable growth within their core business divisions Plastics, Specialty Chemicals and International.
