IChemE member elected SAIChE president

29-Aug-2012 - South Africa

Ralph Grob, chief process engineer at Sasol Technology and Chartered Chemical Engineer, has been elected to the post of president at the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE).

Grob, who was appointed president at SAIChE’s Annual General Meeting in Johannesburg, takes over from Beki Hlatshwayo who has led the Institution in recent years during which successful national conferences have been staged and the South African Journal of Chemical Engineering launched.

A strong advocate of a qualified chemical engineering profession, Grob holds a key role at Sasol and is a former director at AspenTech South Africa.  One of Grob’s first tasks will be to oversee the SAIChE 2012 conference next month.

IChemE qualifications and international development director Neil Atkinson, who is currently in South Africa discussing professional development opportunities, says: “Ralph is a consummate professional in every way and we wish him every success as he leads SAIChE over the next period of its development”.
