Harris to Lead Composite Polymers, Ashland Specialty Chemical Company

Theodore "Ted" L. Harris has been named vice president, Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, and general manager, Composite polymers, according to Mike Shannon, senior vice president, Thermoset resins, Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc.

In his new role, Harris will be responsible for driving the growth strategy in the global composites marketplace; delivering a strengthened technology offering; and achieving global alignment in marketing, sales, manufacturing, technology and customer service. Harris will be based in Dublin, Ohio, and will report to Shannon.

Harris comes to Ashland from FMC Corporation in Philadelphia, Pa., where he served as general manager of the Food Ingredients Division within FMC's Food, Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Group (FMC BioPolymer). He has been affiliated with various FMC operations since 1992 and has served in several different capacities, including sales and marketing director, Electro Química Mexicana S.A. de C.V., an FMC subsidiary, and marketing director, Hydrogen Peroxide Business.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Harris earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., and a master's in business administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston, Mass.
