Multi-Frequency MicrowaveTechnology for Process Control in Fluid Bed Driers

Online-Moisture Measurement in Granulation and Drying

by TEWS Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG

New process-control for fluid bed drying!

  • Online moisture measurements during granulation and drying process
  • Detection of core moisture in granulate materials
  • Independent of particle size, -structure,-colour
  • The accurate moisture values can be displayed or they can be used to control the process and determine the correct end point
  • Implementation in new facilities and for upgrading existing systems

The multi-frequency moisture measuring system MW-F detects the moisture in granulate materials and powders in fluid bed driers in the continous process. The online measurement verifies the direct drying process and allows, for example, the best time for the end point of the production. Sampling is no longer necessary. In contrast to measurements with laboratory methods (LOD balance, Karl-Fischer-Titration a. o.) measuring results are available instantaneously.

Furthermore these results can be used for documentation and processcontrol.

Planar Sensor:

  • stainless steel/ceramic-moisture-planar sensor
  • GMP und FDA-compliant
  • measurement principle with new multi-frequency microwave resonance method MW-F
  • moisture range form approx. 0.1 % –20 %, accuracy typically 0.1 %
  • automatic compensation of temperature influence

Measuring Device and Interfaces:

  • stainless steel cabinet, protection class IP 54, power supply 24 V DC
  • interfaces for communication with PLC oder PC (data transfer, configuration)
  • 2 analog outputs 4-20 mA (moisture and temperature)
  • 2 digital outputs 24 V DC (e.g. alert, control signals)
