The measuring technique uses the scattering of laser light by the particles; the scattering angle is characteristical for the particle size. The particle size distribution is determined by analyzing the light scattering patterns over a wide range of angles.

In the LA-960, the strengths of static laser light scattering (SLS) have been translated into a user-friendly concept. A total of 89 detectors and two light sources with different wave lengths ensure excellent results with regards to accuracy and reproducibility. The intelligent design of the optical system inside the analyzer results in a compact footprint.

Working with the LA-960 is characterized by flexibility and operating convenience. Changing between dry and wet measurement mode is a matter of seconds. The dry measurement unit guarantees optimum dispersion without destruction of the particles. The LA-960 can be equipped with a variety of accessories, e. g. for applications with very small sample volumes, with high-viscosity materials or requiring fully automated sample feeding.
