Rapid automated nitrogen/protein analyser

Combustion is actually a very old method for converting contaminants into oxides. In 1848 Jean Dumas had already developed a simple method for burning organic sample material and trapping the resulting gas mixture.

This breakthrough made it possible to selectively separate the combustion products. Now, chemists were able to calculate back to the content of carbon and hydrogen and subsequently nitrogen. In this method, the sample is burned in an oxygen rich atmosphere at an elevated temperature and the resulting reaction products are trapped and analysed.

Today, C. Gerhardt, the market leader for Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis, can offer the fastest and most efficient instrument for the nitrogen determination according to Dumas’ principle. The clever design and direct analysis of all resulting gases provides the user with precise results within 2-3 minutes.

Low sample weights can still be analysed with extremely high precision (recovery rate
> 99.5 % and a standard deviation < 0.5 %). Thanks to the construction of the instrument, DUMATHERM has hardly any wear and tear on parts. The DUMATHERM Manager software controls the DUMATHERM, which makes working with the instrument extremely user-friendly.

Available with a unique manual sample loader or an autosampler for up to 120 samples DUMATHERM performs according to international standards and regulations, such as AOAC, AOCS, ASTM, DIN, etc. Examples:
