With new concepts based on micro system technology, SLS MICRO TECHNOLOGY (SLS) succeeded to combine all fluidic and electronic components of a gas chromatograph into only one printed plate of the size of a modern PDA (16.3 x 7.4 x 2.5 cm). The module is equipped with a tiny thermal conductivity detector and can be fitted with different thin film or packed columns to optimally adapt it to different analysis problems.

This allows a previously unimagined fast, mobile, self-sufficient, simple and economic analysis of gas mixtures. On that account not only a quantum leap in miniaturization has been achieved. At the same time energy and media consumption are reduced drastically. The patented SLS micro GC module was especially designed for the integration in various end devices. Due to micro system technology SLS can produce any design of the module.

The SLS micro GC module can be bought as a ready gas-measuring instrument in a Micro Box. SLS GCM Micro Boxes are preliminarily set up application specific and contain all appropriate connections. Additionally, Micro Boxes with integrated carrier gas supply are available. Therefore, you are ready to measure within two minutes!

The Micro Box display indicates the operating status and the adjusted parameters of a measurement.

The carrier gas flow is controlled electronically so that the device is not damaged in case of carrier gas failure. The Micro Boxes weigh between 1.4 and 3.8 kg and are very easy to use. Compared to conventional gas chromatographs our gas chromatographs offer the following advantages, especially in the process environment:

  • Ready for measurement in seconds
  • Programmable temperature ramps up to 8 deg/s
  • Fast heating-up of the separation column up to 350 deg
  • Cooling down of the separation column within 40 s
  • Extremely short analysis cycles: 35 s - 240 s
  • High reproducibility of measurement results: « 1% rel.
  • Very low power and gas consumption:
    • Electrical power: 20 W on average
    • Carrier gas consumption: 100-1000 µl/min
    • Sample gas consumption: 1 ml/min
  • High sensitivity of TCD: up to 10 ppm (Dependant on the application)
  • No damage of separation column and TCD by oxidizing gas components
  • Unlimited mobility because of the extremely small size and the very small weight

Due to its modular concept SLS GCM Micro Boxes require virtually no maintenance and are therefore easy to use. Integrated microprocessor technology and sophisticated software allow for parameterisation, calibration, data evaluation and data output via standard interfaces.

Due to the advantages stated above, the SLS Micro Boxes allow for continuous measurements directly in the process and thus open potential for an increase in production efficiency. This leads to higher yields, better product quality, more security for plants and fewer emissions.
