Germany is the Largest Consumer of Butadiene in the Europe and Middle East Region
In the Europe and Middle East region, Germany is the largest consumer of butadiene. Germany holds a share of 28.7%, French demand accounts for a share of 25.5%, Saudi Arabia accounts for a share of 21.4%, Russia accounts for a share of 11.1%, Italy accounts for a share of 7.7% and Iran holds a share of 2%.

Styrene Butadiene Rubber and Polybutadiene are the Major End Uses of Butadiene in Europe and Middle East

Butadiene is largely used in the production of Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR), which is used to manufacture automobile tires. SBR is also used in manufacturing of adhesives, sealants, coatings and some other rubber articles such as shoe soles. Butadiene is also used in making Butadiene Rubber (BR) and polymerized to polybutadiene rubber. SBR accounts for a 29.1% share of Europe and Middle East’s butadiene demand and polybutadiene accounts for a share of 27.7%. Other polymers made from butadiene include Styrene-Butadiene (SB) copolymer latex, which is used in paper coatings, carpet back coatings, foam mattresses and adhesives. Styrene butadiene latex accounts for 12.5% of the Asia-Pacific butadiene demand. Adiponitrile is one of the important chemical intermediates manufactured from butadiene. It holds 3.2% share of the region’s demand.
