Short description

The University of Tartu (UT) rests on solid historical foundations. A part of its scientific heritage started as various academic collections has by now found its way into the University's museums and has been made accessible to the public. A particular ensemble of valuable historical heritage is constituted by the complex of the UT's buildings converging on the Toome Hill as well as the park located on it, together with the statues one finds there. Many of the UT's historical buildings have become quasi-symbolic of the city of Tartu, bearers of academic outlook from the initial days of the University to the present.
