Description:
The world’s hydrogen and fuel cell technology experts will be meeting in Hamburg for the seventh H2Expo.

A first-time feature at the H2Expo 2008 will be a conference presenting the world’s first fuel cell powered passenger ship, which starts operating in Hamburg this summer. The vessel was developed by a consortium of nine companies in the Zemships project (Zemships = “Zero Emission Ships”, i.e. operating without harmful emissions of CO2) with the support of the EU, and will now demonstrate the capabilities of innovative fuel cell technologies in regular everyday operation.

The accompanying trade show at H2Expo enables companies to showcase their technical development in operations with fuel cells. They will include special exhibits showing the capabilities already developed in this area – the exhibits in 2006 included for example vehicles powered by this form of propulsion. And the H2Expo conference and trade fair is backed by an excellent supporting programme with events such as a seminar for new entrants in this field, a workshop in cooperation with fire brigade experts, plus excursions and forums for exhibitors.

The exhibition area Science@H2Expo gives universities and research institutes an opportunity to present their projects and results and to make direct contact with companies. The goal of the event is to keep participants up to date on the latest developments in this sector, to create synergies and cooperation projects between the various sectors, universities and research centres involved, and thus to promote the competitiveness of the industry.
