Beryllium carbonate
Beryllium carbonate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula BeCO3. [1] The related basic beryllium carbonate has the formula BeCO3.Be(OH)2 (CAS 1319-43-3) and is the carbonate mixed with beryllium hydroxide. Both compounds are insoluble in hot (decompose) or cold water but soluble in acids or alkali. Beryllium carbonate is produced by adding a beryllium salt to a solution of ammonium carbonate. The compound is toxic, rats fed on it develop symptoms comparable to osteoporosis.
