Ticona to concentrate its European compounding activities in Germany

20 Jan 2003 - Ticona announces that it plans to concentrate its European manufacturing operations in Germany and as a consequence will cease its manufacturing operations at its site in Telford, England. The process will begin immediately, and it is anticipated to be complete by mid-year 2003. The Marketing and Sales functions in the UK will remain unaffected. Ticona UK Ltd. employs over 100 people in manufacturing, marketing, sales and administration.
 
The move of the production to Germany is being done to improve the overall financial performance of the polyester business line through improving the overall supply chain, and will enable Ticona to enhance the speed to market for its European customers.
 
The Telford facility has been manufacturing Ticona products for over 15 years. The manufacturing site has a capacity of over 14,000 tons per year and primarily compounds polyester products for the European market, with a small portion remaining in the UK for sale. Ticona UK, Ltd is owned 100% by Ticona GmbH, Kelsterbach, Germany.
