Shimadzu : Fast help without handbooks09 Jun 2005 - Shimadzu presents its new service for liquid chromatography and TOC. The Internet-based 'Virtual Advisor' service enables users to obtain instant help on problems or maintenance without the need to consult handbooks. The 'Virtual Advisor' is open 24 hours a day. Approximately 1.000 users worldwide have registered so far and use this modern tool effectively. The websites are divided into further sections which enable fast access to the information needed. After a short registration step, users can configure their virtual system which closely reflects their own laboratory system. The user-defined virtual system subsequently decides which of the following Virtual Advisor pages are accessed. Daily and periodic maintenance are additional sections offering user-support with text as well as graphics. Animated sequences are also included and simplify the implementation of maintenance procedures such as the exchange of worn parts. The video can be started or stopped at any time in order to keep pace with the users workflow. In the topic 'Troubleshooting', various phenomena are discussed. Through targeted questions, problems are analysed step-by-step. The topic 'References' contains useful background information as well as a glossary with the most important terms relating to analysis. The 'Virtual Advisor' websites are updated continually. At present, the 'TOC Virtual Advisor' is available in English, French and Portuguese. The 'LC Virtual Advisor' is available in English. Additional language versions are in preparation. Further information: http://www.shimadzu.de/virtualadvisor Additional information
