New Guideline: Determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) - GC/MS method

18 Jul 2005 - Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) may be formed in technical processes, in which organic, especially fossil substances are processed, burned or pyrolized. Guideline VDI 3874 specifies a manual method for the determination of PAH in emissions from stationary sources of all industrial branches. The method has been developed in order to cope with the latest measurement requirements for PAH, the concentrations of which have drastically decreased as consequence of advanced emission control technology, and to allow the reliable determination of the PAH species which are defined as relevant in legal regulations: the PAH are sampled using a downsized sampling apparatus and determined exactly using GC/MS analysis.
