SABIC Europe to increase September polyethylene prices in Europe

23 Aug 2006 - SABIC Europe announced today that it will increase prices in Europe by EUR100 per ton for all of its HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE products, effective September 1st.

"European and Asian PE markets have tightened considerably over the summer period," says Huub Meessen, Business Unit Director LDPE/LLDPE. "In Europe, demand is strong and supply is very tight. We estimate industry stocks to be low and expect them to stay low. The high level of feedstock costs will remain."

"In the current climate, polymer price increases are unavoidable," says Dieter Hollmann, Business Unit Director HDPE. "Looking at oil price developments and tightness in ethylene, the value chain needs to prepare for a prolonged period of structurally higher polymer prices."
