Merck Names New Managers for Chemicals Divisions

12 Oct 2007 - Merck announced that it has realigned the leadership of its Chemicals divisions. The current Head of Liquid Crystals, Dr. Paul Breddels (51), has decided to leave the company for personal reasons. As of November 1, 2007, Walter Galinat, currently Head of the Performance & Life Science Chemicals division (PLS), will assume leadership of the Liquid Crystals (LC) division. Klaus Bischoff, currently Country Manager of the Merck Group in Taiwan, will become the new Head of the PLS division.
 
Walter Galinat (51) began his career at Merck in 1978. He has served as Managing Director of Merck in Taiwan and held various executive positions within the Chemicals business sector and in the former Laboratory Distribution business sector. Before taking over the leadership of the Performance & Life Science Chemicals division in 2006, he had already served for six years as Head of the predecessor divisions Analytics & Reagents and Life Science & Analytics.
