SGS Acquires Wamtech Pty. Ltd., Developers of MMI Technology

25 Feb 2008 - SGS announced that with the acquisition of Wamtech Pty. Ltd., headquartered in Perth (Western Australia), SGS is now the sole global provider of the Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) geochemistry technology. The business has revenues in 2007 in excess of AUS$ 1 million.

The MMI geochemistry is an advanced exploration technique for detecting deeply buried mineral deposits. It enables companies to significantly reduce exploration costs by precisely delineating anomalies and defining better targets for drill programs. MMI geochemistry is being successfully used to locate gold, base metal and nickel mineralization and kimberlites around the world.

The technical expertise of Wamtech will be integrated with that of SGS, thus strengthening SGS' position as the leading provider of ultratrace geochemistry services worldwide.
