New Executive Committee for ECSPP
Fred du Plessis elected President for the 2008/2009 period

At its Annual General Meeting held last month, ECSPP members elected a new Executive Committee to serve for the coming two-year period. Fred du Plessis (Kline Consulting Europe, UK) was elected President.
Du Plessis has more than 26 years business development experience in the international chemical and life sciences industries. He held posts with Sasol in South Africa and the UK before joining the Industrial Investment Council in Berlin as Vice President responsible for promoting chemical investment in Eastern Germany. He susequently set up his own international business development consultancy practice, NDC International, in the UK before joining Kline and Company in May 2007 to head up their European management consultancy activities. In addition to being Treasurer of ECSPP since May 2005, Du Plessis has been President of the European Chemical and Strategy Association (ECMSA) since 2002.
Also elected to the 5-man Executive Committee for the 2008/2009 period were: Margarete Gersemann (ChemSite, Germany), Patrick Pogue (SembCorp Utilities Ltd, UK), Antoni Tora Ricart (BASF Espanola, Spain), and Xavier Vanrolleghem (Port of Antwerp, Belgium). Margarete Gersemann and Patrick Pogue will both serve as Vice-Presidents of ECSPP.
Retiring President Peter Anderton will continue to be closely associated with ECSPP, providing assistance and support to the new Executive Committee in the field of external relations. His main focus will be on developing and strengthening ECSPP's collaboration with its strategic partners, including the European Petrochemical Association (EPCA), the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) and the European Chemical Regions' Network (ECRN).
