04 Aug 2008 - Greg Babe, President and CEO of Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) LLC, will become the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bayer Corporation, with headquarters based in Pittsburgh, United States. The Bayer Board of Management has also appointed him as Senior Bayer Representative for the Leverkusen-based group's U.S. and Canadian operations. Both appointments are effective October 1, 2008. His predecessor in both of these functions, Dr. Attila Molnar, will retire after 30 years of service with Bayer.
 
Babe (51) will continue in his current role as President and CEO of Bayer MaterialScience LLC, where he has led the BMS NAFTA region since 2004. He was previously head of Bayer Corporate and Business Services LLC, and thus responsible for central administration and service activities in the United States and Canada. Babe has held various management positions in the Bayer Group organization, including assignments in Germany, since joining the company in 1978. A native of West Virginia, Babe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University.
 
Molnar (60) has been Bayer Corporation CEO and Senior Bayer Representative for the United States and Canada since 2002. Previously, he served as a member of the Bayer AG Board of Management. In this capacity he served as Labor Director and was responsible for Human Resources. He was also a member of the Board's Technology and Environment Committee, and Regional Spokesman for North America. Molnar obtained a doctorate in chemistry from Erlangen University and joined Bayer AG in 1978, serving in various management positions in the U.S. and Germany during his career.
