Evonik to Close Cyanoacetic Acid and Ester Plant in North America07 Aug 2008 -
Evonik Industries AG will close its cyanoacetic acid and ester production facility in Mobile, Alabama, USA, in the fourth quarter of 2008. The company is exiting the global cyanoacetic acid and ester market because of overcapacities and competition from China. The employees impacted by the closure will be retained in other production facilities at the site.
Cyanoacetic acid and esters are used as an intermediate in the manufacture of a number of products, including adhesives, pharmaceuticals and agro-chemicals.
