A new dimension in the field of nitrogen/protein determination
DUMATHERM by Gerhardt

Additional information

Dumatherm – Gerhardt is setting a new dimension in the field of nitrogen/protein determination using the combustion method acc. to Dumas.

Combustion is not really innovative since people are able to use fire as a source to burn samples converting all contaminants into oxides. In 1848 already, Jean Dumas had developed a simple method for burning organic sample material in combination with trapping the resulting gas mixture. This breakthrough made it possible to separate the combustion products selectively. Now, chemists were able to calculate back to the content of carbon and hydrogen. Following this method, the sample is burned in an oxygen rich atmosphere at elevated temperature and the resulting reaction products are trapped and analysed.

Today, C. Gerhardt, being the market leader for the Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis, can offer the fastest and most efficient instrument for the nitrogen determination acc. to Dumas principle. The clever design in combination with the direct analysis of all resulting gases provides the user with precise results within 2-3 minutes. Low sample weights can still be analyzed with an extremely high precision (recovery rate > 99.5 % and a standard deviation < 0.5 %). Thanks to the construction of the instrument, DUMATHERM has hardly any wear-and-tear parts. The DUMATHERM Manager controls the software which makes working with the instrument extremely user-friendly.

Dumatherm is working according to the international standards and regulations, like e.g. AOAC, AOCS, ASTM, DIN, etc.
