Particle size and shape analysis with image processing of highest order 1 µm - 20000 µm

Sympatec has recently launched an image analysis sensor, which combines particle size and shape analysis. An innovative new technique with extremely short exposure time of less than 1 ns allows for the use of efficient and reliable dispersion units thus providing clear cut images also from fastest particles with a speed of up to 100 m/s. This guarantees proper dispersion of agglomerated fine and cohesive powders.
With QICPIC particle sizes between 1 µm and 20 mm are measured. The primary measurement data is stored in 30000 primary classes and can be evaluated in individually definable formats. Pre-defined set of size classes allow an easy adoption to existing measurement specifications. A high performance data compression module supports the grabbing of up to 500 images per second. This ensures high statistical security of measurement results in short analysis time.
The WINDOX software offers simultaneous calculations of different size and shape characteristics. A particle gallery in combination with multiple filter functions supports the evaluation of the products, even if very large amounts of 10 million particles or more are stored. QICPIC fulfils the security requirements of the FDA and is compliant to 21 CFR Rule 11.

Evaluation modes are selectable even after the measurement:
- particle size: basing on equivalent projected circle area, Feret diameters, etc.
- particle shape: sphericity, aspect ratio and convexity
- fibre evaluation: fibre length, fibre diameter, straightness, and elongation even of complex structures.
- particle gallery: displays and prints a user defined selection of particles along with definable characteristic data
- user specific evaluation: performs the evaluation of particle size and shape only on particles matching user defined filter conditions.
