HPLC Oven for Temperature Programmed Separations up to 200°C Fast LC without organic modifier for all common HPLC systems

The column oven HT HPLC 200 for optimal realization of temperature gradients in high temperature (HT) HPLC has been developed by SIM Scientific Instruments Manufacturer GmbH. With this oven you can decrease analysis times without the need of a special HPLC system (e. g. for ultrahigh pressures), you can reduce the usage of organic solvents and produce better chromatographic results.
HT-HPLC
Elevated temperature produces a reduction in mobile phase viscosity. This means lower back-pressure so that you can use even columns with sub-2-µm particles in common HPLC systems. Furthermore, mass transfer of the analytes between mobile and stationary phase is enhanced at higher temperature which results in an increase in efficiency while obtaining very fast separations. At temperatures above its boiling point, water behaves more like a moderately polar solvent making it possible to completely eliminate or reduce organic modifier in the mobile phase. This provides new hyphenation techniques relying on water as mobile phase like isotope ratio mass spectrometry(irMS) coupled to HPLC.
Innovative SIM heating system
The technological innovation of the heating system is due to embedding of column and tubing in metal blocks for very effective temperature transfer and precise temperature control (temperature separately controlled in the 3 zones preheating, column heating, and cooling). Development and application testing was done in close cooperation with IUTA e.V. institute at the University Duisburg-Essen. Operating range of the oven is 30 °C – 200 °C, temperature programming rates can be realized up to 40 °C/min. Cooling down of the effluent in front of the detector is achieved by the integrated controlled cooling device. This makes HT-HPLC possible with any HPLC detection method, even with temperature sensitive detectors. Moreover, it enables your system to be ready for another run in a very short time.
Applications
The column oven HT HPLC 200 enables efficient separations with high resolution and very short run times. Separations can be performed with temperature gradient instead of solvent gradient as well as with simultaneous solvent and temperature gradient (e.g. separation of eight sulfonamides and trimethoprim within two minutes). Elimination or at least reduction of organic modifier is possible at elevated temperature and short run times. This feature allows new hyphenations for LC, e. g. irMS for doping analytics or for authenticity verification of pharmaceuticals.
