Heat pump evaporators (EVA and CONfix
®) and -dryer (DRYfix
®), developed by Schulz+Partner GmbH, offer a huge energy-conservation potential compared with traditional vaporisation and drying technologies and are moreover suitable for the most different applications, up to the usage in explosive areas (according to ATEX).
The installations are built up modular and thus can be easily integrated as premounted unities into established production lines. The specific procedural feature of these installations is based on the use of a cold circulation unity for the production of the vaporisation and condensation energy. To reach an optimum in energy conservation (up to 90%), the processes are pursued under vacuum at a boiling temperature between 20 and 45°C. The power demand amounts from 0.03 to 0.2 kWh/l of distillate, depending on product, investment type and plant capacity.
Beside electrical power the plants need no other energy sources like coolant, using the warm side of the circulatory process to deliver energy for the vaporisation, while on the cold side the equivalent condensation energy is used. The technology of this vacuum evaporator (HPE) allows it to concentrate watery and organic solutions carefully without overheating thermo-sensitive materials.
A concentration beyond the liquid phase is possible with the vacuum dryer (HPD). The product is heated up by an exterior double coat heating surface. Sticking is prevented by the application of special wiper systems, which allows a concentration up to very low residual moisture content.
In principle our heat pump evaporators can be used for the treatment of every watery solution which offers a sufficient ability of being concentrated. Particularly looking closer into the chemical, the pharmaceutical and the food industry a big, unexploited potential still exists for this innovative, thermal separation technology.
