Qnami, a Swiss pioneer in diamond-based quantum sensing technologies and a Venture Kick, Venture Leaders Technology, and Top100 Swiss Startup alumnus, has been acquired by Quantum Design International, a global provider of scientific instrumentation and materials characterization solutions.
Founded in 2017 and based in Muttenz, Qnami specializes in quantum sensing technologies built on diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers. Originating from Prof. Patrick Maletinsky’s Quantum Sensing Group at the University of Basel, the company has developed platforms for nanoscale magnetic imaging and quantum sensing applications used in advanced materials research, spintronics, nanomagnetism, and semiconductor development.
Through the acquisition, Qnami's diamond-based quantum sensing technology will become part of Quantum Design's portfolio of scientific instrumentation. The combination strengthens Quantum Design's capabilities in quantum-enabled characterization tools and expands access to Qnami's nanoscale magnetic imaging and sensing platforms for researchers and industrial customers worldwide.
