Toho Tenax Builds New Carbon Fiber Production Line in Germany

Toho Tenax has announced that at the board meeting held on October 8, 2004, it decided to establish a new production line for carbon fiber which targets to launch the operation from October 2006 in Tenax Fibers GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "Tenax"), wholly owned subsidiary of Toho Tenax Co., Ltd.
Supply and demand balance in the carbon fiber market is fast becoming to improve from the mid-2003, furthermore, it is expected to continue growing at an annual rate of approximately 10%. Especially in Europe, the aerospace application for Airbus and industrial application including wind energy generator are expanding its demand, which has exceeded the current production capacity of Tenax at 1,900 tons a year. In order to meet this active demand, it decided to establish an additional production line in Germany.
