Eastman invests in energy-efficiency in Middelburg

17-Sep-2007

Eastman Chemical Middelburg B.V. will be realizing considerable energy and environmental savings with the use of a new boiler next to the incinerator. The system will use residual heat to generate steam at our Middelburg production site. This investment will not only result in significant financial savings, but also in a reduction of natural gas usage, as well as a reduction in the total CO2-emission of the Eastman plant in Middelburg. The investment is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.

"By using the new facility we will realize an annual reduction of 15% of natural gas and at the same time reduce our CO2 emissions by 10%. With this investment, Eastman, as a Responsible Care®-organization, continues to show that the environment is being taken very seriously," says Daan Touw, Manager Quality, Environment, Safety and Health.
