Constitutive meeting of the Supervisory Board of the future BASF SE

Professor Berthold Leibinger appointed honorary chairman

In its constitutive meeting for the conversion into an SE (European Company, Societas Europaea), the Supervisory Board of BASF SE made a number of important decisions. Dr. Jürgen F. Strube was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the future BASF SE. Professor Berthold Leibinger, who was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BASF Aktiengesellschaft from October 1999 until May 2003, was appointed honorary chairman of the new Supervisory Board.

Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht was appointed Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE. Eggert Voscherau will act as Vice Chairman and as Industrial Relations Director responsible for Labor and Social Affairs. In addition, Dr. Kurt Bock, Dr. Martin Brudermüller, Dr. Wolfgang Büchele, Dr. John Feldmann, Dr. Andreas Kreimeyer, Dr. Stefan Marcinowski and Dr. Harald Schwager were made members of the Board of Executive Directors of the future BASF SE.

Max Dietrich Kley will act as the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board of BASF SE. The other members of the Audit Committee will be Ralf-Gerd Bastian, Franz Fehrenbach and Michael Vassiliadis.

All these decisions were reached unanimously. The conversion process will be completed at the beginning of 2008 with the entry into the commercial register (Handelsregister). The headquarters and chief administrative offices of BASF SE will remain in Ludwigshafen.
