Shopping Is a Breeze with Cart Made of DuPont™ Zytel®

18-Feb-2002

February 18, 2002 - DuPont will unveil a new, cutting-edge shopping cart – or shopping trolley, as they are called in the United Kingdom – at Euroshop 2002, a leading retail trade fair in Dusseldorf, Germany, that runs from February 23-27. Roughly 100,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair, which will have 1,600 exhibitors and feature the latest in merchandising innovations. The so-called DuPont Shopping Trolley is made of DuPont™ Zytel® thermoplastic resin and is approximately one-third the weight of existing shopping carts. Stylish and environmentally friendly, the cart is easy to maneuver and its smooth surface makes it less likely to cause damage to textile products, in-store fixtures, vehicles and customers. The "nesting" or stacking distance of the carts is also one of the smallest in the world in relation to volume storage, meaning is takes up less of retailers' valuable floor space. The cart can be manufactured in a variety of colors in order to provide individual "branding" for specific retail organizations and products and to allow for easy identification if stolen. Applying science to fulfill human needs – such as the need for safer and easier-to-maneuver shopping carts – is part of the DuPont integrated science strategy for achieving sustainable growth.
