Completion of Capacity Expansion for DuPont? Teflon® Announced

14-Mar-2002

March 14, 2002 - DuPont Fluoroproducts has announced the completion of a previously announced USD 50 million global capacity expansion program in its DuPont Teflon® PTFE fluoropolymer business that has increased global capacity by 30 percent since 1999.

According to DuPont Fluoroproducts, the expansion program was primarily focused on Teflon® fine powder and dispersion resins, and included investment in both facilities and state- of-the-art technology. Most of the investment was directed toward the DuPont facility in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the largest fluoropolymer manufacturing facility in the world. Upgrades also were implemented at the DuPont fluoropolymer manufacturing sites in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, and Shimizu, Japan.

"Expanding the global capacity for DuPont Teflon® reinforces our position as the longtime leader among fluoropolymer producers, and will help ensure that customers around the world have the products they require as economic conditions improve and demand for PTFE returns to a more normal pattern of growth," said David Boothe, global business manager - Teflon® PTFE, for DuPont Fluoroproducts.
