Praxair Announces the Opening of a New Helium Facility in China

DANBURY, Conn., -- Praxair, Inc. announced today the opening of a new helium transfill facility in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province of China. The new facility will provide additional liquid helium capacity for dewars and gaseous helium for cylinders, storage receivers, and tube trailers.

With an expected annual capacity of more than 30 million cubic feet, the facility will provide helium for several markets including: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), optical fiber manufacturing, semiconductor manufacture, welding, cryogenics, leak detection, controlled atmospheres and aerostats/lifting.

"As one of the largest helium suppliers in China, the addition of the new transfill capacity helps us serve our customers more quickly and efficiently," said Brent Lok, president, Praxair China.

The facility will also enhance Praxair's existing capability in serving customers and meeting future growth requirements. According to Joe Cappello, vice president and general manager, Helium and Rare Gases, Praxair, Inc., "The opening of a new helium transfill facility is a demonstration of Praxair's continuing commitment in serving China's growing industrial base."
