In-Situ FTIR Spectroscopy Reaction Monitoring

Understand reaction kinetics and mechanism in real-time

Every new chemical entity that enters commercial production must go through a development process where both the chemistry and chemical process must be fully understood to make a safe, reliable, robust process. ReactIR in situ Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy answers fundamental questions about the chemical reaction itself: when does it start, when does it stop, does the reaction go via the expected mechanism, what are the kinetics? etc.

ReactIR FTIR Spectroscopy works in a wide-range of chemistries and enables real-time monitoring of essential reaction species and their development over time. ReactIR with Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) provides specific information about the start of the reaction, conversions, intermediates and the end point. The technology is suitable for many chemical reactions in which the molecule is infrared active, the chemistry is in solution or off-gas, and the concentration is higher than ~0.1%.

Common application areas include:

  • Polmerization reactions
  • High pressure reactions
  • Monitoring hydrogenation reactions
  • Hydroformylation or oxo synthesis/process
  • Process control for exothermic reactions
  • Halogenation
  • Organic synthesis
  • Biocatalysis
  • Continuous Flow Chemistry

Improve your research and development of chemical compounds and synthetic chemical processes with ReactIR technology.
