CIN2 is research center formed by the collaboration of several public and private institutions in Spain and Catalonia: - One partner is the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the Spanish Research Council, which develops its activities in a large number of scientific and technological areas all around Spain. In particular, an important number of Institutes have been created by the CSIC on the UAB Campus. - The other partner is a private non-profit fundation with public funding called Fundació Privada Institut Català de Nanotecnologia (ICN), supported by Generalitat de Catalunya -Regional Government- and UAB. CIN2 is also one of the centers belonging to the BCN-b (Barcelona Nanotechnology Cluster-Bellaterra). Researchs in CIN2 are carried out by thirteen groups with expertise in different areas. CIN2 counts with more than 120 people (investigators, technicians and administration staff included), a number that will increase during the next months.
