Utilization of GC & GC/MSD for Analysis of Swelling Gas, Carbonate Solvents & Additives in Batteries

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are widely used in electronics due to their high energy density, light weight, and long lifespan. Performance degradation often causes gas generation, linked to electrolyte degradation. Knowing the gas composition is vital for optimizing electrolytes, typically LiPF6 and carbonates. This presentation explores methods using Agilent 990 micro-GC and GC/MSD to analyze swelling gas and solvents.
