Anbesol



Anbesol is an oral anesthetic produced by Wyeth, available in either liquid or gel forms. The active ingredient, benzocaine, constitutes 20 % of a 0.25 oz (7.1 g) tube.

Anbesol is used for temporary relief of:

  • Toothaches
  • Gum pain, especially due to teething
  • Canker sores
  • Cold sores
  • Braces pain
  • Denture pain

Warnings: People who have a history of being allergic to local anesthetics should not use procaine, benzocaine, butacaine, or other anesthetic "-caine" products.
