Ioannis Galidakis

Ioannis N. Galidakis (Greek: Ιωάννης Ν. Γαλιδάκης) (born 1964) is a Greek mathematician, programmer, lab spectroscopist and amateur baroque composer. In mathematics he has worked in the areas of complex and real analysis. In programming, he has worked both as an independent contractor and under Apple Computer in Greece localizing system software. In spectroscopy, he is known for his large data collection of spectra of elements and common light sources.

Mathematics

In mathematics, Galidakis is doing extensive research on Tetration. Early results include series expansions for the finite and infinite hyperpower function, while later results include solving the problem of determining the regions of convergence of the periodic iterated exponential, using an infinite class of complex analytic multi-valued functions which generalize Lambert's W function. The latest results generalize the convergence of the iterated exponential in the space of Quaternions, by generalizing the Lambert W function in that space.

Computer Programming

In programming, Galidakis has done localizing work for Apple Computer in Greece and has produced free antivirus software for the Macintosh. His latest program, Virtual Composer was concurrently created while he was working at the University of Crete, to investigate alternate musical temperaments and the advanced sequencing capabilities of QuickTime.

Spectroscopy

In spectroscopy, Galidakis has collected a large body of spectroscopic data, mainly emission spectra from various light sources, which are used as a reference by various educational and research institutions.
