Tin telluride



Tin telluride is a compound of tin and tellurium (SnTe); it is a semi-metal.

Properties

  • Cubic crystal, lattice constant 0.63 nm.
  • Mobility 500 cm2V-1s-1
  • Specific heat capacity 185 J.kg-1.K-1
  • Enthalpy of sublimation 222 kJ.mol-1
  • CAS number [12040-02-7].

It is often alloyed with lead to make lead tin telluride, which is used as an infrared detector material.
