Multi-coloured photonic materials with a ‘woodpile’ structure

High quality photonic materials possessing a ‘woodpile’ structure have been fabricated using a single prism holographic lithography technique. The multicolored materials, which comprise of 160nm rods stacked in alternating piles, show enhanced fluorescence due to their large surface area and the presence of bicontinuous interconnected pores.
