Univar announced a further expansion to its European setup. Univar France recently announced its plans to officially launch a 16 million Euro project at the Genay site. This will allow continual development in the Lyon region, which is one of Univar’s growth regions.

Univar has announced a 16 million Euro expansion project at Univar’s Genay site in Lyon, France to be completed by 2011. The objective of the project is to reorganise and expand the current Genay site with the aim that it will become the central hub of all industrial business sites in the Lyon region.

"This new warehouse for minerals, solvents and specialities will allow Univar to work in the best conditions of safety and environmental protection and to continue to improve the services it offers to its customers,” explains Nicolas Lehmann, General Manager of Univar France.

Univar also announced a further expansion to its already vast European setup. Univar’s subsidiary, Univar Czech s.r.o, has opened a branch in Bratislava, Slovakia. The country just recently adopted the Euro and is a growing market within the Central and Eastern European region. This is one of the major reasons why Univar plans to increase its business in the area.

‘Our highly specialised distribution business serving the food, personal care and other chemical sectors requires local dedicated sales and professional technical service. This reinforces our commitment beyond our own sites and into local communities and emerging markets,’ said Heinrich Klüwer, General Manager of Univar’s C&EE operations.
