Adam of Bodenstein



Adam of Bodenstein (1528 - 1577) was a Swiss paracelsist alchemist and physician. He was born in Karlstadt, Switzerland. His father, Andreas Bodenstein, was a theologian.

Bodenstein, with Gerhard Dorn, Johannes Oporinus, and Michael Toxites, were responsible for translation of the works of Paracelsus. Bodenstein translated the following from German to Latin:

  • Giambattista della Porta Magia naturalis
  • Opus Chyrurgicum
  • Onomasticon Paracelsicum.
