World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day is a day of awareness for diabetes. It was developed by the International Diabetes Federation in 1991 as a way to increase people's knowledge about diabetes, and help prevent the disease. World Diabetes Day is held on November 14.

Each year has a different theme or topic on which the day is focused. In 2004, the theme was "Diabetes and Obesity". In 2005, the theme was "Diabetes and Foot Care: Put Feet First, Prevent Amputations". In 2006, it was "Diabetes in the Disadvantaged and the Vulnerable: Diabetes Care for Everyone". In 2007, the theme was "Year of the Child".
