Electrochemical insights for fuel cells, batteries, CO₂ reduction, and electrocatalysts.
The HPR-40 DEMS is a laboratory mass spectrometry system developed for in situ, real-time analysis of gases and volatile species in electrochemical research. Designed for applications such as fuel cell diagnostics, CO₂ reduction, catalyst evaluation, corrosion studies and battery research. It provides scientists with accurate, immediate data on reaction pathways and product selectivity.
With its modular configuration and compatibility with a range of electrochemical cells and probes the HPR-40 DEMS is an adaptable solution for laboratories working across multiple disciplines. By simplifying workflows and eliminating the need for time-consuming offline sampling techniques, it enables researchers to accelerate discovery and improve their understanding of electrochemical processes. A range of easily interchangeable inlets are available allowing the system to be used for multiple applications utilising the same software and mass spectrometer.
The supplied ‘ECL series’ electrochemical cells feature either a vitreous carbon working electrode or sputter compatible membrane, which can be user-coated to meet the exact needs of a given experiment. This adaptability allows scientists to customise the surface for specific reactions, improving the relevance and precision of their data. The electrode’s robust design also supports repeatable, long-term experimentation.
A non-metal probe completes the ECL range and allows for direct dissolved gas analysis in ‘off the shelf’ or custom-made cells. The unique non-metal nature of the probe means it can be fully immersed in electrolyte without any interaction with the electrochemistry.
The HPR-40 DEMS is built to keep research moving. Its easily replaceable nanoporous membrane interface keeps performance consistent and downtime to a minimum, so you can focus on results, not maintenance. With ECL series cells placing electrocatalysts right at the membrane surface, you gain faster response times, tighter synchronisation with electrochemical measurements, and the confidence to run extended studies with ease.
The included cables enable straightforward integration of the HPR-40 DEMS with the electrochemical workstation, ensuring data synchronisation within a single intuitive software package. With QGA software, multiple-axis views make it possible to plot the interaction of potential, current, time, and mass spectrometer signals in real time.
Backed by Hiden Analytical’s 40+ years of expertise, the HPR-40 DEMS provides a complete solution for laboratories focused on energy storage, catalysis, corrosion, and advanced material studies. Its combination of flexibility, precision, and ease of use makes it an essential tool for scientists seeking accurate, actionable insights into electrochemical reactions.
