BINDER battery test chambers provide controlled test conditions for lithium-ion cells, modules and battery systems. They support aging, performance and stress tests in research, development, quality assurance and production. Temperature conditions can be set to investigate their effects on energy storage devices.

Aging tests focus on changes in battery capacity during use or storage. Performance tests examine how batteries perform under different operating conditions. Stress tests assess their behavior under increased loads. The test chamber provides the temperature-controlled environment and safety features required for these procedures.

Each chamber combines a suitable standard model with a selected safety package. Package A is intended for aging tests on energy storage devices that are not being charged or discharged, up to EUCAR Hazard Level 2. Package P supports aging and performance tests up to Level 4. P Plus and G are available for extended performance tests up to Level 5. Package S is designed for stress tests up to Level 6.

Depending on the package, equipment includes an independent temperature limiter, pressure relief, door safety features, gas detection and connections for a CO2 cooling and flushing system. The selection depends on the potential hazards of the planned test.

Integration into existing test setups is also considered. BINDER offers options such as additional access ports and reinforced shelves or racks. The chambers can be combined with external battery cyclers and chillers, allowing the setup to be adapted to the test specimens, procedures and existing peripheral equipment. The feasibility of each configuration is assessed against the application's requirements.
